12th April 1974: Sam leaps into the body of Geoffrey ‘Tonic’ Mole, lead singer of British rock band sensation ‘King Thunder’, performing in from of eighty-thousand screaming fans. Luckily for Sam the concert soon ends, enabling him to retire to his hotel room while his fellow band members and their manager, Dwayne, enjoy a party with their groupies. After Sam has extricated himself from what Al terms as “a fan sandwich”, he learns that in two nights’ time ‘Tonic’ is due to be stabbed to death by a crazy fan, who then disappears into the crowd. When Sam recalls seeing a young boy stalking him backstage Al sets off to investigate, and with a little luck, he identifies the fan as Phillip Silbart. Sam and Al are relieved that the assassin seems to have been found – until Sam is nearly killed by a falling lighting rig during a rehearsal, a time when Philip has an alibi. It seems that someone else has it in for ‘Tonic’; someone close to the band – or even in it…
